The Military Historical Museum was built in 1898 for an Infantry Regiment. It has been occupied successively, as a result of the different reorganizations of the Army, by Infantry, Quartermaster and Logistics units, being at present the only barracks built for this purpose that exists in the City, which gives it a very important historical value.

The most striking thing about the construction, in addition to the typical and representative structure of large warehouses that overlook an interior courtyard at the time prepared for formations with livestock, is the cladding of the yard with tiles that give life to the large gallery that surrounds it, a large mural dedicated to Spain representing a large tree whose roots are born from each and every one of its Regions, a monolith to which they gave their lives for Spain and a large mast for the Flag complete it.

The Museum is located on the banks of the River Turia, today converted its bed into a large garden that serves as a route to a large cultural complex “A river of culture”, and that leaves the Museum centered between Museums of all Fine Arts and the complex of Science and Arts Museums entering the new century, this situation provides ample possibilities to attract visitors. The Museum currently occupies the warehouses facing General Gil Dolz street, where the access to it is located.

The Museum collection They come basically from the museum created in 1990 in the Maintenance Group V/31 (former Artillery Park) by Lieutenant Colonel Angel M. Adán García and by the contributions of the Units that have been dissolved in the Military Region "Levant" at the beginning and in the Military Region "Center" later. The vast majority of its collections are from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and its collections include: Flags and Banners, Uniformity, Models, Dioramas and miniatures, Techniques and Logistics, Heavy and light weapons, Militaria, Weapons and Bodies, Civil War (1936-39), Peace Missions, Fine Arts, and Documentation and photographs with unique pieces in all collections.

The permanent exhibition far exceeds 2,000 perfectly catalogued collections. More than 3,000 collections are inventoried in warehouses . The Museum has a projection room, cafeteria and technical library.

An Association of Friends of the Museum channels and diversifies complementary activities of all kinds (excursions, newsletters, conferences, etc.).

In short, the Museum aims to create a broadly didactic, objective, understandable and entertaining environment, so that visitors find a space of culture and leisure in which the exhibited funds acquire value in themselves, generating an approach to the glorious military history of Spain. A Military Museum helps to recreate the national consciousness, showing the great achievements and feats of the Spanish people, permanently remembering the loyalty, courage and discipline of their Armies, which throughout history were given to the service of the Fatherland. It also aims to make visitors reflect on the contributions that the Military Institution has made to culture and science over the centuries, promoting the rigorous study of the most significant historical facts.

The Museum wishes to be permanently present in the cultural field, since military history is at the basis of Homeland History; that much of the scientific advances had in the past their gestation in the needs of the armies to adapt their preparation in the defense of the Nation; that numerous decisive figures in history belonged to the Armies and that in the field of teaching, training and development of personnel has introduced the newest systems for instructing large masses of men in the shortest possible time and with optimal results.
