The building was built in 1887 as the main station on the line belonging to theValencian S ocietat de Tramvias , which connected Valencia with Llíria. It was replaced shortly afterwards in its most representative and traveling sense by Santa Monica, which became the term of the term and was much closer to the center of the city of Valencia. The Marxalenes station is perfectly preserved, but only in terms of the passenger building.

This building is explained by I. Aguilar as follows:

L'Passenger building it is located laterally at the main access from the Barcelona road, it is a single-storey building parallel to the tracks, that is, following a typology such as the one we have previously called D/ (passing) which is normally used in transit stations and not in the term like this. This solution is mainly due to the form of land used for the construction of the station and its dependencies, as well as the reduction of this space determined the parallel construction of all the pavilions and tracks.

The distribution of the building does not vary in the fundamental of the normal typology. The central part is the one intended for passengers properly: Lobby, luggage, waiting rooms, ticket office and at both ends will be the offices belonging to the internal service such as the chief's office, telegraph, inspection, plumbing, warehouse, rooms... All this distributed through a corridor that crosses the entire building. The facades are modulated by means of pilasters, between them the gaps open (windows on the main façade and doors on the façade to the road), only the central part is highlighted with a small crown or parapet that indicates the main accesses through both facades. It is a classic building where proportions and minimal decorative and architectural elements (plinth, entablature, stalls, pilasters ...) configure the appearance of many Spanish stations.

The station has now been transformed into social offices of the Valencia City Council.
