The plot of land of the old S. A. Cross factory complex was located next to the now disappeared railway line Valencia-Grao, of paramount importance in the development of this industry.

The Cross factory in the city of Valencia must be understood in the Valencian agricultural development during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, in the manufacture of fertilizer products, replacing or complementing traditional fertilizers.

The dating of its construction and the historical evolution of the S. A. Cross, presents difficulties due to the scarcity of archival data on this subject, although it is an industry built in the twentieth century.

Description of the ships

The wooden warehouses object of the work represent only a small part of the total number of buildings that made up the old factory of the factory complex S.A. Cross, which occupied about 137,502 m2 of cadastral area, of which 48,000 m2 were built. They were intended at the time for the production of phosphates and superphosphates.

It has a double structure of 2 and 3 naves (Naves 1 and 2, respectively), practically independent and joined by a gabled covered passage. The separation of both naves between pillars is 19.40 meters.

Nave 1:
Dimensions 89.00 x 51.35 metres (4,570 m2) (warehouse to be maintained, object of the project). Structure of 2 naves of width between axes equal to 18.90 meters each, and 21 porticos (separation between belts of 4.40 meters). Both naves have a cantilever at each end of 6.75 meters.

Nave 2:
Dimensions: 123.20 x 66.39 meters (8,180 m2) Structure of 3 naves of width between axes equal to 18.90 meters in the extreme naves and 15.04 in the central nave, and 29 porticos (separation between belts of 4.40 meters). The extreme naves have a cantilever of 6.75 meters.

The typology is that of a tangle of railway or port dock and cover for protection against rain or sun of the goods stored until their embarkation.

In general, they are open naves on all sides, without closing side facings, except for the skirts of wooden slats that close their fronts, without reaching the ground. The structure is composed of double wooden ribbons with supports in columns of the same material, and double gabled roof, with two lanterns for overhead lighting, all topped by flat tiles or Alicante. The whole set sits on an overly elevated surface, as a podium.

The entire structure is made of wood, with assemblies between the pieces and reinforced with screws and threads, as an

. The wooden pillars also give
slenderness to
the structure, configured as very light. At the base of the pillars there is a metal base with
rigidization
plates and fitting for the pillar, anchored in turn on a solid tile base on a masonry foundation.

Supported on the straps of the belts is a walkway and wooden railing with two metal rails in which ran a conveyor belt, which crosses longitudinally the two bodies of the ship.
