It was the old parish church of the town of Ruzafa, independent until 1877 (nineteenth century) when it was annexed to the city of Valencia. It is a baroque temple built in brick in the seventeenth century, which stands on top of a previous one ordered built by James I the Conqueror in the thirteenth century. This temple was destroyed by a fire in 1415 (fifteenth century). The construction of the new Baroque temple is attributed to Tomás Leonardo Esteve, while the Baroque decoration of the interior that no longer exists was by Juan Bautista Pérez Castiel and his son Juan Pérez Castilla

Popularly known as Ruzafa Cathedral, it is a temple with a Latin cross floor plan, with a single nave and six side chapels between the buttresses. Half-barrel vault with lunettes, and dome over the transept. This is covered with blue and white glazed ceramic tile.

The Baroque doorway is a lintel door at the top of which and in a niche are the images of the titular saints: Saint Valer and Saint Vincent the Martyr. Higher up the façade is a window with Baroque decoration.
The interior is a model of kestrel decoration as a whole. The main altarpiece faithfully follows the personal style of José Churriguera.
The octagonal bell tower is formed by three bodies topped by a Baroque shrine. Its construction is attributed to José Mingues and finished in 1740 (eighteenth century). The names of the bells are as follows: De tocir a missa (1940), La Tereseta (1940), Santa Miquel (1965), Cristo Rey (ca 1940), El Blai (1940), La Maria (1940), El Vicent (1940) and El Valdre (1940). Information about the bells in the bell ringers of the Cathedral of Valencia. As we can see all the bells were made after the Civil War, since the previous ones were destroyed during the conflict.
The church was burned down in the Spanish Civil War and rebuilt after its completion by architects Salvador Pascual Gimeno, Manuel Pascual Gimeno and José Luis Testor Gómez.
Between 1942 and 1949 the aforementioned Pascual brothers made the Chapel of the Communion in the nave of the epistle and at the foot of the church.
