Bombas Gens is a Valencian industrial building that is characterized architecturally by its clear Art Deco style, which currently serves as a center of cultural activities, mainly modern and contemporary art.

The Gens Bombs factory was a work made by the architect Cayetano Borso di Carminati. Carlos Gens Minguet commissioned this Italian architect to build a building characterized by a different design of its surroundings and that will present some innovation.

Cayetano achieved this, in a construction that has survived to this day under the name of Bombas Gens, the commercial name of the company that Gens Minguet ran together with a partner.

The factory enjoyed a long period of splendour from 1930 until 1991, when it closed permanently. During these years it was expanded with warehouses and workshops where to include the machinery that was incorporated into the production processes, as well as it is also possible to find near the building the house of the owners, in the shape of a mansion.

The abandonment and deterioration of the building culminated in a fire in 2014 that narrowly did not end up making disappear this architectural heritage of the Valencian industry of the twentieth century.

After the fire, patrons through the Per Amor a l'Art Foundation acquired the building and proceeded to a rehabilitation process culminated in the summer of 2017, when Bombas Gens reopened its doors as a center for cultural activities, highlighting its constants Photography and Art Exhibitions.

The rehabilitation of Bombas Gens brought some surprises, such as the discovery of a winery and facilities that served as a refuge during the Civil War. A work of architectural reconstruction and preservation has made it possible that currently they can also be visited.

In addition to the interior facilities, Bombas Gens has a garden that maintains the modernist architectural tradition, to offer in about 1,100 square meters of plant compositions of more than 100 different species, as well as a sculpture created by the artist Cristina Iglesias.
