- The exhibition can be visited until 1 September.
- The exhibition shows documents and materials from the Municipal Historical Archive, which has preserved the memory of the city since the 13th century.
The Palau de Cervelló is now showing the exhibition ‘The evolution of the coat of arms of the city of Valencia in images’. The exhibition, which opened to the public this afternoon, is coordinated by Rafaela Soriano and Alicia Martínez and curated by Juli Moreno and Alejandro Guardiola.
The exhibition is the result of an initiative by the Municipal Historical Archive of Valencia to raise awareness of its collections among the population. The Municipal Historical Archive of Valencia is one of the oldest in Europe and has held municipal documents since the 13th century.
The exhibition shows the evolution of the city’s coat of arms from the time of the conquest of Jaume I to the present day, a journey through the substantial modifications that this symbol has undergone until the configuration it has today. The exhibition shows the documents and materials kept in the archive in different media and materials and attempts to explain this symbol, which represents the city and which surrounds us in our day-to-day life in street furniture, institutions, documentation and in the image projected by the city of Valencia.
‘The evolution of the coat of arms of the city of Valencia in images’ can be visited until 1 September from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 3 to 7 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday. On Sundays and public holidays the exhibition will be open from 10 am to 2 pm. On Mondays, the exhibition will be closed.
