The Archive of the Kingdom of Valencia constitutes the historical compilation of all the documentation belonging both to the territory of Valencia and to other institutions related in some way.

This archive is catalogued as an Asset of Cultural Interest and can be consulted in the same building as the Archive of the Kingdom of Valencia, which is located at Paseo de la Alameda, 22.

The importance of the Archive of the Kingdom of Valencia lies both in the amount of documentation collected, and its antiquity, which dates back to the thirteenth century.

All interested citizens can enter the Archive building and make the query they want among the abundant existing documentation. To this end, a reading room has been set up with capacity for 56 people and reading equipment that includes microfilm and microfiche readers.

In addition to this reading room, the Archive of the Kingdom of Valencia also has restoration and reprography laboratories, an exhibition and conference room, a classroom for practical classes (scheduled teaching visits are also allowed) and an auxiliary reference library, with more than 13,000 books among other documentary resources.

The archive of the Kingdom of Valencia began to be compiled in the thirteenth century. However, it was Alfonso V the Magnanimous from the Cortes of 1419, who made official the foundation of a new archive, which, with several transformations, has survived to this day.

It currently represents the compilation of 6 centuries of history, present in a building that has been rehabilitated, to safeguard for a long time all this documentation. In the same way, the archive of the Kingdom of Valencia is in the process of digitization and computer improvement of the databases, in order to speed up the search and location of information.
