València hosts “Même la mère”, an exhibition by Angers-born artist Choun Vilayleck, at the Galería del Tossal

Within the framework of cooperation between the city councils of València and Angers to promote culture, València strengthens cultural collaboration between the two European cities with the opening of the exhibition “Même la mère” by the Angers-born artist Choun Vilayleck, who will present his work at the Galería del Tossal in València.

This exhibition marks a new milestone in the artistic exchange between the two cities and reinforces València’s commitment to promoting contemporary art and European culture.

Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Angers, Choun Vilayleck develops highly delicate work based on volume and drawing. Each sculpture takes shape from a metal structure modelled by the artist’s hand.

It is striking to see how the moving pieces project their shadows onto the Islamic wall, creating a kind of dance that evokes the movement of the sea. In this sense, the artist plays with the words mer (sea) and mère (mother) in the title, referring to the sea as a life-generating element.

The exhibition can be visited from 25 February to 3 May 2026.

Opening hours:

  • Tuesday to Saturday: 4 pm – 7 pm

  • Sundays: 10 am – 2 pm
