We open the exhibition Stefan Zweig. Universal author

The exhibition Stefan Zweig. Universal author Its objective is to contribute to the dissemination of the figure and work of one of the most read and translated German-speaking writers in the world. He invites us to know his career as a best-selling author not without controversy, as an inveterate traveler and as a citizen of the world with a pacifist vision. In this exhibition we can discover his exciting history and his heterogeneous literary work, which almost a century later has been consolidated as a timeless legacy, transmitting the message defending a peaceful world without borders.

Curated by Bernhard Fetz, Arnhilt Inguglia-Höfle and Arturo Larcati, this travelling exhibition, based on the great exhibition about the author that was held in Vienna in 2021, will be exhibited at the History Museum of Valencia thanks to the work of the Austrian Cultural Forum, whose main objective is the dissemination of Austrian culture in our country.

The exhibition presents a selection of documents, letters, photographs, film fragments and sound recordings, which will take us on a journey around the world, but also to the past of the Habsburg Empire that Zweig considered as a global model for the coexistence of different peoples.

The exhibition is completed with a reading area where visitors can relax and enjoy some of the most important books of the extraordinary literary generation that make up Stefan Zweig and his contemporaries (Joseph Roth, Robert Musil, Franz Werfel, Arthur Schnitzler or Hermann Broch); all of which contributed significantly to the European literature of the first half of the twentieth century and offered unique perspectives on the human condition in a period of tumultuous change.
