Sara Mansanet, new Deputy Director of Cinematography and Audiovisuals at the Palau de la Música

Sara Mansanet has been chosen as the new Deputy Director of Cinematography and Audiovisuals at the Palau de la Música after obtaining the highest score in the selection process for this post and once the assessment of merits and projects and the interviews of the candidates had been completed. The assessment committee has taken into account Mansanet’s professional experience in the audiovisual field, in the programming of festivals and in the organisation of events and teams, as well as her knowledge of the Valencian audiovisual sector.

‘With the incorporation of Sara Mansanet as Deputy Director of Cinematography and Audiovisuals, the Palau de la Música reinforces its commitment to excellence and to the cultural projection of Valencia’, declared the Councillor for Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources and President of the Palau, José Luis Moreno. Moreno added that “her career linked to prestigious festivals such as La Cabina and Cinema Jove guarantees an innovative, inclusive and rigorous approach to audiovisuals. I am therefore convinced that his work will contribute to consolidating the Mostra de València as one of the great film festivals of the Mediterranean and to positioning our city as a cultural reference on the international scene”.

The Deputy Director of Cinematography and Audiovisuals will receive a salary of 72,465.85 euros per year and her functions include defining objectives and developing programmes that strengthen the entity’s relationship, establishing collaboration frameworks and agreements, as well as the management and coordination of the various services or units attached to the Deputy Directorate.

She will also organise film and audiovisual events and competitions and, with regard to the Mostra de València – Cinema del Mediterrani, she will present to the president and the management an annual programme of action, investments and funding, as well as the annual management report; she will monitor the development and programme of international festivals; she will direct the screening and selection of films submitted to the festival and of all titles likely to form part of the programme as well as the design of strategies for the positioning of the festival at international level, among others.

Sara Mansanet holds a degree in Art History from the Universitat de València, a master’s degree in Cultural Management and a PhD in Communication and Cultural Industries from the Universitat Politècnica de València. She has been artistic director and production director of the International Medium-length Film Festival La Cabina since 2012 and of the Espigol Fest, International Short Film Festival of Social Inclusion since 2022. She has also worked as general coordinator of laboratories at the University of Valencia such as the Word-Frame Lab or DOCUVIR, as well as production director of the International Film Festival of Valencia Cinema Jove, among many others.
