The Valencia Orchestra returns to Valencia Cathedral to perform a concert featuring two masterpieces of German classicism and French Romanticism. Maestro Alexander Liebreich will conduct this concert, which will begin with Symphony No. 26 “Lamentatione” by Franz Joseph Haydn, while in the second part you can hear the famous Symphony No. 26. 3 “with organ” by Camille Saint-Saëns, to be performed by organist Pablo Márquez.

The cycle “Cambra al Palau”, which takes place in the Almudí, presents the second concert formed by instruments from various sections of the Orchestra of Valencia. On this occasion it will be a brass trio formed by trombone Rubén Toribio, trumpet Ignacio Martínez and horn Alfredo Cabo, together with percussionists Josep Furió and Sergi Dauder, who perform a spectacular program formed by fanfare, sonatas, trios and divertiments by Eric Ewazen, Arcangelo Corelli, Juan José Colomer, Mario Roig, Joseph Haydn and Václav Nelhýbel.

The Orchestra of Valencia presents a subscription program in which the Concerto for piano and orchestra No. 24 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, to be conducted by Alexander Liebreich and performed by the great Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, who debuts on the Palau de la Música programme. This is the last of three concerts in the “Playing Mozart” series, which has brought together other outstanding soloists such as Maria João Pires and Paul Lewis. The program will begin with the work “Revers” by Pascal Dusapin, resident composer of the Palau de la Música this season and will conclude with the “Concerto for orchestra” by Witold Lutosławski.

The Brahms String Quintet will take to the stage of the Almudín, to offer two masterpieces of chamber music literature of all time, composed by Brahms. Thus, violinists Elena Rey and Casandra Didu, violas Lorena Cantó and Santiago Cantó and cellist David Apellániz will perform String Quintets No. 1 and no. 2 by the German Romantic composer, two works of genius, and especially No. 2. 2, with a Hungarian folkloric element reminiscent of the famous symphonic Hungarian Dances.

The prestigious wind group Spanish Brass returns to collaborate with the Valencia Orchestra, this time to perform the “Brass Quintet Concerto” by composer Salvador Brotons, a composition designed especially for the Valencian quintet. The conductor Josep Vicent will conduct this extraordinary concert, in which you can also enjoy the Symphonic Dances of the post-romantic Russian author Sergei Rachmaninoff.

The Orchestra of Valencia participates, once again, in the prestigious summer festival “Serenates”, fruit of institutional collaboration and which is organized by the University of Valencia. It takes place in the cloister of the Cultural Center La Nau. Under the direction of the Valencian maestro Daniel Gil de Tejada, the audience will be able to listen to the program “A night with Maestro Serrano”, in homage to José Serrano on the 150th anniversary of his birth. In this way, the composer from Sueca will be able to hear the jota “La casita blanca”, “Moros y Cristianos” and the intermediate of “La venta de los gatos”. “Una nit d’albaes” by Salvador Giner and the prelude to “La revoltosa” by Ruperto Chapí complete the Valencian authors. Also outstanding in the program is the Concerto for piano and orchestra no. 2 by Camile Saint-Saëns, which will be performed by the concertmaster Marta Linares, and the spectacular “Overture of the academic festival” by Johannes Brahms.
