New municipal publication ‘Dietario de Tadeo Insa (València, 1773-1837)’

The Department of Cultural Action, Heritage and Cultural Resources has just published the Dietario de Tadeo Insa (València, 1773-1837), edited by Germán Ramírez Aledón.

The Dietario de Tadeo Insa is a repertoire of news, events and commemorations that took place in the city of Valencia between the end of the 18th century and the first third of the 19th century. The manuscript, mostly unpublished, was in the possession of Teodor Llorente, who speaks of ‘a torn and battered notebook’. Inside, the description of festivals, notable events and royal receptions is combined, for example, with an account of public executions, a dual aspect that makes this unknown work of great interest.

The author of the edition and study of the Dietario de Tadeo Insa is Germán Ramírez Aledón, PhD in History from the Universitat de València, and associate professor in the Department of Contemporary History at the same university. His most recent titles include La Ilustración católica ante la crisis del Antiguo Régimen en España: Joaquín Lorenzo Villanueva y Astengo (2021; Premio Humanismo e Ilustración 2019 and Premio de la Sociedad Española de Estudios del Siglo XVIII 2022); and the edition of the poem Lo somni [1831] by Vicent Salvà (2024).

The official presentation of the work will take place on 12 September 2024, at 12 noon, at the Cervelló Palace, in a ceremony presided over by José Luis Moreno Maicas, with the intervention of the author of the edition.
