Las Atarazanas hosts an exhibition of social art with a gender perspective

  • The exhibition by the Valencian artist Mau Monleón Pradas will be on display, with free admission, until 30 June.

  • The initiative was selected in the public call for artistic projects promoted by the City Council to promote the talent of different artists in municipal exhibition spaces.

Since yesterday, Las Atarazanas has been hosting the exhibition “Mau Monleón Pradas. Arte social con perspectiva de género” (Mau Monleón Pradas. Social art with a gender perspective), an exhibition selected in the public call for artistic projects promoted by the City Council to encourage artistic creation and promote the talent of artists and professionals with experience in the management of artistic exhibitions, to show their work in different municipal exhibition spaces.

The exhibition by the Valencian artist Mau Monleón Pradas, curated by the historian and teacher Ángela Montesinos, presents five interconnected projects that address everything from the visibility of women in different fields to the vindication of their roles.

According to the curator, “this exhibition seeks to enrich the contemporary debate on this issue, as well as to build bridges between art and the public sphere, fostering a greater understanding of gender equality and social justice”. Specifically, Monleón Pradas’ photography, text, sculpture, public art, video, video installation, performance and transmedia art “invites the public to reflect on the position of women in society and their contribution to the care of the planet, and places special emphasis on projects such as “#WomenForEarth”.
