Exhibition ARMANDO SERRA – MENINAS at the Tossal Gallery

On Tuesday, June 18, at 19.00, will take place at the Tossal Gallery the opening of the exhibition ARMANDO SERRA – MENINAS, which brings together the latest works of the artist.

Armando Serra, born in Valencia on April 21, 1950, is an outstanding artist and designer whose talent and creativity have left an indelible mark on the cultural and artistic environment of Valencia. His deep love for his homeland (for ours) has influenced every aspect of his prolific career, making him a cultural ambassador for the Valencian Community.

From his earliest years, his father’s artistic heritage shaped his innate talent. Throughout his training in Architecture and Decoration at prestigious local institutions, Serra absorbed the essence of Valencia’s rich artistic tradition. His mentor, Román Giménez Iranzo, instilled in him a deep appreciation for the analysis of form and aesthetics, fundamentals that Serra has carried with pride in his work.

Armando Serra has captured the essence of Valencian traditions through his award-winning Fallas posters and his contributions to emblematic events such as Corpus Christi, the July Fair and the Jocs Florals de Lo Rat Penat. His creations not only decorate, but also narrate the history and spirit of Valencia, celebrating its festivals and customs with a unique touch that resonates deeply in the hearts of all Valencians.

Among its most notable achievements is the authorship of the official paintings with the coat of arms of the Generalitat, sent to all the Regional Houses of Valencia in the world. This symbolic gesture of uniting Valencians around the globe through his art highlights his role as an unbreakable cultural link.

His designs of fallas and bonfires demonstrate his ability to understand art as an expression without limits. His creativity in the children’s fallas is outstanding, and the one that was pardoned in its entirety is well remembered for being considered an unrepeatable jewel.
In addition, for twelve years, he has also been the creator of the paintings given to the Queens of the Magdalena of Castellón, Bellezas del Fuego of Alicante and Falleras Mayores of Valencia, perpetuating the tradition and Valencian identity with each brushstroke.

And how not to mention his exhibitions in Valencia, Madrid and Bilbao, where Serra has always carried with him the Valencian spirit and art, presenting works that evoke the beauty and vitality of his homeland. His drawing of the Virgin of the Forsaken, commissioned by the Archbishop of Valencia, D. Carlos Osoro, and distributed internationally, is a testimony of his devotion and commitment to Valencian identity.

Armando Serra, with his lifelong dedication and passion for Valencia, has not only beautified his hometown, but has elevated Valencian culture to a status of admiration and respect around the world. His legacy lives on as a beacon of inspiration for future generations of artists and a proud reflection of the Valencian spirit.

The exhibition can be visited at the Tossal Gallery from the day after the opening until September 15, Tuesday to Saturday from 4pm to 7pm and Sundays and holidays from 10am to 2pm. Free admission.
