On Friday 13 December 2024, the jury deliberations took place to decide the winning works of the XLII Ciutat de València Literary Awards (2024).
This year, in addition to the eight prizes that have been awarded for years (narrative, essay, theatre and poetry) in both Valencian and Spanish, the Josep Sanchis Grau Prize for comics has been added, for works written in either language, with a cash prize of €10,000.
A total of 1,959 original works have been submitted, which is around three hundred more than in 2023. Although the majority came from different parts of Spain, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Cuba also stand out for the number of works submitted, although originals from 28 different countries were received.
In addition to the prize money, the winners receive a sculpture by Miquel Navarro, and their work will be published, depending on the category, by the publishers Bromera or Bullent, in Valencian; Ñaque, Renacimiento, Sargantana or Visor, in Spanish; and Grafito Editorial in comics.
