The temporary exhibition hall of the City Museum hosts the exhibition ‘Colour and energy of the sun’ by Pilar Belmonte, which opens this Thursday, 23 May, at 18:30.
The exhibition displays the works of the artist from Albacete related to contemporary stained glass and project designs in which traditional art and current technology are reconciled, with paintings, stained glass and photovoltaic cells for a cleaner and more sustainable world.
The exhibition will include the full-scale designs of a project for 6 windows with photovoltaic cells, which is currently underway, and the full-scale designs of the rose window of Albacete Cathedral that were used in its construction.
An artist specialising in stained glass
Pilar Belmonte, a graduate and doctor in Fine Arts, is a specialist in contemporary stained glass and currently works in two professional workshops in this sector in Germany, Derix Glasstudio, Taunusstein and Peters Glasmalerei.
In 1988 he began working in contemporary stained glass, thanks to his teachers José Ignacio Pertegaz and Nini Hernández. His works include the rose window of Albacete Cathedral and the main façade of the RENFE train station in Gandía.
Together with Derix Glasstudios Taunusstein, she curated the exhibition ‘The Art of Stained Glass’, held in the Santa María de la Valldigna monastery in 2003, which brought together 40 international artists. Since 1971, she has held 104 national and international exhibitions in museums, institutions and galleries (Valencia, Albacete, Madrid, London, Venice, Paris, New York, Germany and Holland).
The exhibition can be visited from Thursday to Sunday, 8 September, during the museum’s regular opening hours.
Free admission.
