The Exhibition Bridge and the metro station are a unique work of engineering designed by the engineer and architect Santiago Calatrava, on the site of the old Exposition footbridge. Both elements constitute a harmonious set designed as a work of unitary engineering of complicated resolution and striking aesthetics.

The bridge, built entirely in high-strength steel, rests on a single eye, a huge slightly arched beam that crosses the now dry riverbed. From the traffic lane, a sloping arch of 14 meters high starts contributing to the stability of this new bridge of 26 meters in total width and almost 131 meters in length. The arch is tilted 70 degrees above the horizontal plane.

As a curious note, it should be noted that the construction of both elements was simultaneous, carrying out the work of the metro station in its definitive location, while that of the bridge was carried out on nearby land and was later moved to its current location above the station.
